12/1/2023 0 Comments 5e conjure animals choicesGiant Eagle is not amazing, and while the Quetzalcoatlus hit's like a truck, it has +4 to hit, and I can at most summon two of them. ![]() Giant Vulture is great, but at CR 1 I can at most summon four of them, granting a total of eight attacks with advantage, but they've actually got lower DPR than the Blood Hawks, though their single target damage is higher because they all fit around a single target. Giant Wasp is not bad, but limited because poison is so often resisted or ignored, and if it's vulnerable to poison the Flying Snake is just better. I found the Blood Hawk at CR 1/8 with Pack Tactics, and they honestly seem like the best option for mass summons. Giant Owl is much the same, but without the theme issues. The Pteradon seems highly valued in guides, but they don't fit the campaign ( around Neverwinter) all that well, and can't hit a barn even if they did. ![]() Problem is, that it takes me about 20 minutes to set up for each Beast, so I decided I would make two choices for each situation (Land/Air/Water), and I need some help picking for Air and Water. We play on Roll20 now, so I sat down and made some macros to summon a bunch of Wolves, and I can now summon them quickly to the map, and roll attacks for all sixteen wolves ( just hit 9th level) in ten seconds flat. My DM can't be arsed though, and said that I could pick my types in all Conjure spells, as long as I didn't pick stupid shit like Woodland Pixies.
